Nokia E63 firmware updated!

Right, Nokia seems to be doing a boatload of firmware updates this week. The N97, E71, E66, E51 and what not. Tried my luck yesterday, and sure enough, the Nokia E63 had an updated v200.21.012 posted. Duly upgraded, here is what I’ve observed, yet.

Looks like quite a bit of Ovi integration is happening, with Ovi Contacts being added to the already present FIles on Ovi. Ovi contacts is now integrated within the contacts application, and there are a few new widgets for Facebook, MySpace and Youtube. There seem to be a few updates to the themes, with ‘Black Personal’, “Black Business’, ‘White Personal’ and ‘White Business’ being added.

Keep in mind that the E63 does not support user data preservation, so please backup your phone before updating.

    Guys, I can't customize modes after upgrading f/ware.
    When I set the settings for one modes, the other just follow exactly and if I change it, it will affect the other modes. :(

    Anyone experiencing this?

    Does the firmware upgrade cause any errors to the equalizer? I read somewhere that the equalizer goes for a toss when connected with headphones with the new upgrade. Please confirm guys as i would like to upgrade if there are no disadvantages in the new firmware.

    yeh. It's not a problem with update. It's the problem with the version. I bought 2 E63s from India with company installed firmware and and the phone Equalizer ain't working with whatever you plug into it. Gosh, i never expected such a faulty on such a leading brand.

    An annoying thing after firmware upgrade is the internet radio now has adverts on the top when choosing channels. its very annoying!!! what are these nokia people thinking? as if people will click the f@£$%^& adverts.

    Unable to connect to the Youtube application (The one downloaded from m.youtube.com) via Wi Fi. With 3G connectivity, the application works fine.

    After upgrading, noticed that the backlight intermittenly goes off after about a second while the handset is not in idle mode.

    None! On the contrary, the phone appears much more responsive now.

    I am thinking in making the firmware upgrade but since no changelog is available I am wondering if you managed to fine what's new in this version. Also, I fell my phone a little slow, especially when entering Contacts or entering menu. Does this behavior improve after firmware upgrade ? What other improvements did you observed ?
  • do you have spacebar lag? I hope nokia is aware of this

    Spacebar lag, yeah. But thats evident only when you're typing messages lightning quick. Am not sure though, will let you know if I notice its glaringly obvious?
  • yup.. it is.. obvious.. in E71 (i borrowed one) it does not lag when I type as fast as I do in E63
