Tata Sky+

I’ve been wanting to get a DTH service for a while now. I’ve put it on the backburner more than once, primarily because I don’t watch TV all that much, and secondarily because I really cannot find the right package for myself. I’ve finally convinced myself that I need a good DTH service. People seem to be suggesting Tata Sky+ to me, which I think is a wrong choice for me.

It basically is a set-top box, with a hard disk inside, so you can actually pause live TV or schedule recordings of shows, assuming you are not home. Tempting, one would think, but I think it would have its drawbacks. What would one do once that hard disk is full? There seems to be no way to copy out all that recorded data. In which case, it seems logical that it would overwrite. Worse still, what if the hard disk conked? I’m sure there would be a replacement scheme, but then, that would mean loss of data.

Considering I intend to hook up this Tata Sky system to my computer, it would make perfect sense to take the plain Vanilla DTH subscription, no matter who the provider, and rely on Windows Media Center to do the rercording for me.

Which brings me back to the main question, which DTH service?

  • Dude, reading your hardware updates always makes me drool and want to spend more money on acquiring such a collection of my own! :)

Your N82 seems a pretty awesome phone...err...device! Btw, the Motorola S9 Stereo Bluetooth headphones have been recommended to me as perfect for music even on my Blackberry Curve (I've named it The Titan; go on, call me crazy). I think you did mention the headphones are giving you good VFM. How much did they cost you and where did you buy it from? Thanks for the info.
